The beginning of a new chapter in international science and technology relations

Presence of the vice president for science and technology in some of most powerful countries in these areas in 2015-2016 has created the foundations for development of capabilities of Iranian companies through interacting with other nations.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the presence of the vice president for science and technology in some of most powerful counties in these areas in 2015-2016, which has been associated with interactive actions, including the creation of work groups, establishment of investment foundations and signing of agreements and memorandum of understanding, has led to the formation of the platform for expansion of Iranian capabilities in the fields of science and technology.

In this report, the trips of the vice president for science and technology to other countries are reviewed and steps taken to improve the scientific and technological abilities of the country are assessed.

A step toward scientific and technological collaborations between Iran and Russia

During June, the vice president for science and technology attended the third meeting of technology cooperation commission of Iran and Russia with related work group and a high-ranking delegation to follow up the path of scientific and technological cooperation between the mentioned countries.

In this meeting, which was attended by Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology, and Dmitry Rogozin, deputy prime minister of the Russian federation, the subject of expansion and integration of technological cooperation between the two countries and following up of approvals in previous meetings of the committee were discussed and the most important topics related to this collaboration were assessed.

Use of Technological Capacities of Iranians residing in America

With members of the cabinet of the eleventh government and president of Iran, Sorena Sattari traveled to Venezuela, Cuba and New York, not only participating in Annual General Assembly of the United Nations but also making a speech in front of the audiences.

On his trip to New York, Sattari met with Iranians residing in America and a number of Iranian entrepreneurs. During these meetings, he mentioned the scientific and technological achievements of the country, explained about the plans of national elites foundation for benefiting from the capacities of non-Iranian scholars and evaluated the problems of non-resident Iranian experts for collaborating with Iranian knowledge-based organizations.

Increased Scientific and Technological Interactions of Iran and China

In November, science and technology board of commissioners of Iran traveled to China as a follow-up for the previous travel of Iran’s president to this country in last February. In this meeting, two agreements were signed by the vice president for science and technology and minister of science of China and academy of science of this country.

In addition, the vice president for science and technology of Iran met with Wan Gang, minister of science of China, on the second day of presence of Iran’s science and technology board of commissioners in this country and talked about various scientific and technological subjects and bilateral collaborations.

Furthermore, as a follow-up for the agreement signed by the vice president for science and technology of Iran and ministry of science of China last year to create a joint technology park. Both sides consulted about the method of cooperation of the countries and emphasized the importance of development experience exchange.

Cooperation of Iran and Austria in Various Science and Technology Fields

On February 28th, 2017, the vice president for science and technology of Iran traveled to Austria and visited with Mitterlehner, vice chancellor and minister of science, research and economy of Austria, five cooperation agreements were signed in different science and technology fields, two of which were related to design and production of automobile platform and technological collaborations in fields of management and development of technology parks.

Two countries provided their five-year collaboration map, which initiated in 2016 and will last until 2021. This trip was taken in order to perform technology cooperation roadmap.

On the second day of trip of the vice president for science and technology of Iran to Austria, he met with George Leach, minister of transportation and innovation of Austria, and both emphasized the importance of improvement of technological and innovative cooperation.

In addition, Sattari explained about the necessity of technological collaborations between the countries, abilities of Iran in the field of knowledge-based economy and formation of a technology and economy platform by knowledge-based companies of the two countries for technological interactions, export and expression of opportunities and academic interactions.

Minister of transportation and innovation of Austria welcomed and supported the signing of cooperation agreements by the two countries, which happened yesterday, emphasizing the fact that Austria will cooperate with Iran in the field of transportation and development of its foundations.

On the second day of this trip, Iranian and Austrian knowledge-based had a joint meeting (business forum), in which three cooperation documents in the private sector were signed by the two parties.
